Google PageSpeed is a measure of how quickly a webpage loads and becomes usable for visitors. It is important because it directly impacts user experience, which in turn affects search engine rankings, bounce rates, and conversion rates.
Mobile results often have a bit weaker results then desktop because of Internet speed difference.

Client needed a website for showcasing his photo and video work, and for improving his online presence with elegant design.
Create one custom WordPress theme that will work on two sites, have very similar layouts, but can be visually different.
After creating a plan that takes into consideration the client’s budget and deadline, we’ve agreed to develop one custom WordPress theme and create a multisite environment.
Key problems and functionalities we solved during development
Image optimisation
Optimise uploaded photos without losing too much quality for the biggest part of the website, and use HD photos in galleries.
Solution
We’ve set up a photo optimisation plugin to strip the data we don’t need in a photo and to get the best page load results. With that, we have implemented lazy loading of the images below the fold, which are not displayed in the initial viewport.
To the galleries, we are forwarding full HD image links so the pictures in the galleries would be as sharp as possible, since that is where users need to see the best work of our client.
Combining all of these, we have accomplished a fast-loading website with high-quality images where we need them the most.
Let users know there is video in portfolio
Client also creates awesome videos, but how do we let users know about them without using all those nasty video players everywhere while taking care of server space?
Solution
Play one video per portfolio automatically when the portfolio slides into the viewport on mobile, and when a user hovers the mouse over the whole portfolio section on desktop. Clear sign to the user that we have videos for them to watch.
Videos are hosted on YouTube to save space on clients’ servers.
Use logo impactfully
– “Look, my logo is bold, stateful, and good-looking. Could we use it somehow in a cool and awesome way?”
– “Sure, let me cook!”
Solution
The logo in the footer is hugely displayed with a video in the background, using the logo as a mask.
Something similar is used in more places on the website, using bold fonts with background photo inverted colors on it to catch users’ eyes.
Not your everyday contact form
– “Isn’t a contact form just an old-fashioned chat, a bit slower and using emails? Can we make it not boring?”
– “You are absolutely right, let me search the web and find something interesting.”
Solution
Instead of a classic contact form, we have developed something like a sentence for users to input information in. It is more fluid to use, and it looks better.
One site to rule them all
– “Here is the situation, I divide my work into two main categories, weddings and everything else. What is the smartest way for us to divide them on the website, and please keep it under the budget if you can?”
– “Give me a day to think about it, please.”
Solution
After considering all the factors with the budget, deadline, and design differences the client wanted between the two “categories”, we have agreed that the best solution for the problem is to create two separate websites, but keep it all on one server with the same custom WordPress theme because of development, hosting, and maintenance costs.
How do we do it? WordPress multisite. It gives us just the right possibilities and solutions for all of our problems.
We created a web options page in the dashboard where we choose the main style of the web. Based on that, we alter the design of the sections, keeping the same wireframe while having a different but connecting design.
